The Adventures of Hajjî Baba of Ispahan by J.J. Morier, The Heritage Press, 1975 This book is one of a group of books I am listing published by The Heritage Press. It has an Preface by Sir Walter Scott and Illustrations by Honoré Guilbeau. From the Preface, “The Adventures of Hajjî Baba of Ispahan, which may be termed the Oriental Gil Blas, affords an easy and humorous introduction to the Oriental manners and customs, but especially to those which are peculiar to the Persians.”

This small hardcover book (6 ½ x 9 ½ inches, 498 pages) was published by The Heritage Press of Norwalk, CT dated 1975. The book is bound in light purple paper covered boards with a quarter spine in darker purple cloth and a black and gold gilt picture on the front and gold gilt title on the spine. There are black and white illustrations with red borders throughout and beautifully illustrated drop caps at the start of each chapter (see photos). Condition: This book is in very good condition. The purple sleeve is in nice shape with just a few very small marks and some wear to the corners. The hardcovers are also in nice shape though there are some light marks on the front and some edge wear particularly to the top and bottom of the spine. Inside, the pages are unmarked and clean and bright, from cover to cover. Both hinges are fully intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
