The BOOTLOCK™ is the perfect solution for safely increasing airflow and ventilation inside your vehicle whilst keeping your boot or rear doors securely locked.

Designed for dog owners, handlers, and working dog vehicles, the BOOTLOCK™ allows your tailgate or barn doors to remain slightly open whilst still secured by your vehicle’s locking system. This creates an essential airflow gap to help reduce internal vehicle temperatures and improve ventilation for your dogs.

VEHICLE COMPATIBILITY
BOOTLOCK™ works on most vehicles with rear tailgates or barn doors as shown in the listing photos.

Please note:

  • NOT compatible with Renault vehicles.
  • Some modern vehicles with highly sensitive door sensors may struggle to lock if the system detects the boot/door as open.
  • This is uncommon, but may occur on certain vehicles with advanced sensor systems.

CHOOSING YOUR SIZE
BOOTLOCK™ is available in four approximate sizes:

• 4 inch (95mm)
• 6 inch (170mm)
• 9 inch (245mm)
• 12 inch (305mm)

Measurements are taken approximately from the bottom bar to the end of the loop (excluding the threaded hook).

WHICH SIZE SHOULD I CHOOSE?
The size you choose depends on the amount of airflow you require and the environment you are parked in.

4 Inch:
Ideal for wet or windy weather where you still want ventilation without allowing too much rain into the vehicle.

6 Inch:
A great all-round option that balances airflow with reduced external access.

9 Inch:
Perfect for warmer weather or shows/events where increased airflow is preferred.

12 Inch:
Maximum ventilation gap for situations where greater airflow is needed.

Many customers choose multiple sizes so they can adapt depending on weather conditions, location, and vehicle setup.

FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
BOOTLOCK™ fitting is quick and easy:

  1. Select the hook type that best suits your vehicle.
  2. Loosen the threaded hook and place it securely around the fixed striker bar / latch bar inside your boot or rear doors.
  3. Tighten the BOOTLOCK™ clockwise until the hook is secure and cannot detach.
  4. Gently close the tailgate or barn doors so the vehicle latch engages onto the hooped end of the BOOTLOCK™.
  5. Most vehicles will click twice when fully engaged.
  6. You can now lock and unlock your vehicle as normal whilst maintaining a secure ventilation gap.

TO REMOVE:
Simply unlock your vehicle, open the boot or doors as normal, loosen the hook, and remove the BOOTLOCK™.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

  • BOOTLOCK™ must NEVER be used whilst the vehicle is moving.
  • Always ensure your dog has access to water and does not overheat.
  • Vehicle and dog safety always remain the responsibility of the owner.
  • Always test your vehicle is properly locked before leaving it unattended.

Please remember:
To remove the BOOTLOCK™, your vehicle must first be unlocked using the normal vehicle unlocking process.
