This historical novel and love story of Allie Wakeling and Billy Wraxall begins at a cricket match in the summer. Billy goes off to war in France (WWI), and when he does return, their world has changed forever. They begin their lives together, and fight against the injuries of war until tragedy finally overcomes them. The story is set against the background of the Great Depression.
