The new 2022 R-Series subwoofers are here - drawing from decades of Subwoofer engineering experience. They deliver deep, clean, accurate bass and feature Alpine’s HAMR Surround for maximum cone excursion, delivering tons of bass output. the new ceramic dust cap is very light weight and rigid, keeping distortion an absolute minimum. The new, enlarged motor structure ensures better overall woofer control for a clean, strong bass response.


New Motor Structure

The 2nd-Gen R-Series Subwoofers now feature larger, double-stacked magnets that contribute more motor force for deeper bass and tighter bass control from the subwoofer cone compared to the previous generation. An integrated Faraday ring minimizes distortion for cleaner bass output. A Kevlar-treated cone ensures durability in the subwoofer for reliable performance, even at high volumes.

Next-Gen Sound Performance

Since the Type R platform, Alpine’s R-Series sound system family has been known for its incredible output and reliable performance. Now Alpine introduces the next-generation of sound performance with the 2nd-Gen R-Series Subwoofers with even more bass output.

Additional Reliability

A new polypropylene/ceramic composite dust cap ensures rigidity while also providing incredible internal damping (vibration absorption) to smooth out the bass response and reproduce tight bass. This premium, unique material also has higher heat reliability that ensures non-stop bass performance.

Flexible Application

The 2nd-Gen R-Series Subwoofers contain a Dual Voice Coil (DVC) with easy configuration jumpers that allow for flexible applications. A new “EZ-Change” twist-lock grille mounting system makes it easy to install and remove an optional grille without mounting screws for additional protection to the cone.

Increased Accuracy

These subwoofers feature Alpine’s High Amplitude Multi-Roll (HAMR) Surround technology. This rubber surround allows the subwoofer cone to efficiently move air while staying cool. This technology allows for 20mm of total cone excursion and motion that creates incredible accuracy from the subwoofer.

More Motor Force = More Control

Starting with a new ten piece, segmented magnet structure, the new Type-R subwoofers deliver more accurate, louder and cleaner bass with even more control. This new magnet assembly is also an integral part of the next generation of Alpine’s Patented Radial Vented VC cooling system.

Keep it Cool = Keep it Playing

Alpine’s Patented Radial Vented VC Heatsink and Airflow Management System (US Patent #7,634,101) helps to minimize power compression and ensures reliable long playing time by actively eliminating output-robbing heat away from the Voice Coil. The new one-piece cast aluminum frame with integrated shorting sleeve uses the entire frame as a heatsink, to allow for sustained power output and handling, even in the most extreme of applications.

Alpine’s Patented Compound Radius Curve pole geometry ensure for an ultra symmetrical magnetic field, while optimizing flux density to greatly reduce distortion, while further improving power handling and output.

The oversized 35 mm voice coil allows for increased power handling of 350W RMS / 1000W Peak. To get the best performance, we recommend you pair Type-R subs with Alpine’s new S-A60M, R-A75M or X-A90M digital amplifiers.

FEA Optimized for linearity and made with injection-molded Santoprene ®, the HAMR surround is a key part of the suspension system that allows for extreme excursions with accurate, distortion-free control.
