Sheffield Lab was the brainchild of musician, Lincoln Mayorga and engineer, Doug Sax. The award-winning natural sound of Sheffield Lab has been recognized throughout the world as the reference standard for musical and sonic excellence. Sheffield Lab was the label that single-handedly brought audiophile recordings to high profile status with the astonishingly realistic quality of their direct-to-disc recordings.

GROWING UP IN HOLLYWOOD TOWN has become an audiophile classic around the world and has set a new standard for vinyl recording and hi-fi stereo reproduction. Billboard called the album a "stunning artistic success" and Amanda "the queen of the high end" for the purity of her vocals and the emotional depth of her songs. Sheffield released the second McBroom direct-to-disc recording, WEST OF OZ in 1981. Billboard raved "McBroom's singing is a joy for listeners. This present disc, The Amanda Albums, compiles both albums into one CD.

The vocal selections from Amanda McBroom's two Sheffield Lab albums Growing Up in Hollywood Town & West of Oz have been compiled and re-mastered using Sheffield Lab's MADO system.

With a vocal style reminiscent of Judy Collins and Joan Baez, Amanda McBroom (composer of Bette Midler's hit song 'The Rose' from the movie of the same name) showcases her versatility both as a song writer and singer. Grammy nomination for recording excellence!
