UPDATES: 2016-02-05 - This is a new listing for an upgraded version of the original LCD Red USB Power Monitor ZY1262 (new model number is now ZY1265). New firmware v2.9 has also been released for the old ZY1262 LCD Red monitor. See the description below for new features in v2.9. Previous customers interested in the upgrade can contact me for the firmware file and upgrade procedure (will require a ST-Link V2 compatible programmer).
This is the latest edition of the USB 2.0 LCD Power Monitor developed based on the original very popular ZY1262 USB 2.0 LCD Power Monitor (Red version). It offers all the exact same functions the ZY1262 has to offer, plus a higher voltage rating (up to 24V), and a new Micro-USB input port. You can now connect the device using a common Type-A USB to Micro-USB cable to your power source, making it more convenient to use in some situations. It is now also capable of giving you a direct reading of your input cable's internal resistance (requires a constant current DC load). This device is also Qualcomm QuickCharge (QC) 3.0 compatible. Please see the comparison chart in one of the attached images to find out the differences between all the different versions of these YZXstudio USB Power Monitors.
Just like the other versions, this device allows remote data logging by connecting a UART USB/Serial adapter, or a Bluetooth module. This new ZY1265 model now has PCB footprints for the necessary components (a Bluetooth module, a P-Channel MOSFET, and a 3-pin spring loaded connector). Please choose whether you want the device to come with these Bluetooth enabling components or not when you make the purchase. If you choose to get one without these Bluetooth enabling components, you can still add them yourself in the future. Users will need to use their own serial communication software for the actual logging and data analysis though. The USB Power Monitor simply sends the raw data.
The Dave B.Reviews YoutTube channel has done a review on the similar LCD Red version (original model ZY1262), comparing it to an a out-of-cal OLED version with an older firmware which the reviewer purchased from another eBay seller: http://youtu.be/jLB8ETx_qwc.
Steve of the SDG Electronics channel has another detailed review of the LCD Red version with a mini-teardown: http://youtu.be/vpRN6XXX7WQ .
Previously Martin Lorton of the popular MJLorton channel done a very positive review on an earlier OLED version of this device, watch it here: http://youtu.be/kYQz88ZclRA
Julian Ilett also uploaded a first look video of the OLED Yellow and Red versions to his popular YouTube channel: http://youtu.be/IVNA4gvQzKo. Julian has since posted a few more videos on these USB Power Monitor devices include this one (http://youtu.be/jYfzGoLxR4M), where he also demonstrated the Bluetooth remote logging capability.
NEW Firmware v2.9 Features (Released 2016-02-05)
1. Power up splash screen display duration can now be changed, or disabled altogether. 2. New feature to allow measuring internal resistance of the input cable directly. This function requires a constant DC current dummy load, such as this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/YZXstudio-USB-Adjustable-0-3-5A-DC-Dummy-Load-QC2-0-3-0-MTKPE-MTKPE-Compatible-/201473192457 3. Backing up calibration and other settings to override the factory settings are now protected. This helps to avoid accidentally replacing the factory calibration data. User calibration can still be done the same way as before but overwriting the factory settings with user data is now protected and requires special setup to enable.
Firmware v2.8 Features (Released 2015-10-27)
1. The charging/discharging duration would now be saved together with other cumulative readings in each data set. In previous versions that duration was reset to zero every time the device is powered off. The number of data sets, however, has been reduced to 6 (from the original 9) due to the extra data field. 2. An issue with time keeping accuracy has been improved. In the previous version time could be off by about 20 seconds every hour.
Firmware v2.7 Features (Released 2015-09-24)
1. Improved button pushing response. 2. Now requires long pressing in the configuration menu items to prevent accidental modification to the settings. 3. Voltage and Current curves now displayed on the same screen. 4. New fast updating V/A curves, and a new D+/D- voltage curve. 5. Improved charger identification to show alternative possibility. 6. New "Offline Curves" feature to allow saving of the V/A curves into the device's memory. Configurable between a 1 to 24-hour period, over 384 data points. This makes reviewing charge/discharge curves extremely convenient without needing to log the data remotely. 7. Qualcomm (QC) 3.0 compatible.
