From the DJ flap: It was a great day for Mike Galvados when at last he established his family in wonderful New York's Spanish Harlam. It had been a long trip in the old Ford from the mountains of Cuantapec in Mexico bu the glories of the great North American country would make everything worthwhile for himself, his children and the others.

It was a close-knit family, devoted and loving. With high hopes they all set out to make a new home for themselves. But the city was crowded and cruel. New York seemed to have saved all its heartaches, disappointments and disillusionments for the gentle Mexicans, who were overwhelmed by its hardness, violence and vice.

The beloved mountains of home seemed to beckon to them and their appeal was almost irresistible. Should they go back, give up in defeat? Was there nothing good and warm here? Were there no friends, no love?

The Galvados' story is a universal one, with many parallels. Albert Johnston tell it with truth and a sensitivity to the emotions of the very human people he portrays.
