Laminated Springs (Pair) — for Ranger, Hunter & HD Roamer

A genuine pair of replacement laminated springs for Masterclip's traditional Heiniger-style clipper head, compatible with the Ranger, Hunter and HD Roamer. These springs hold the blade carriage in place and let the cutter swing side to side to produce the clipping action — a consumable part that wears with everyday use, and a common point of failure if the clipper's tension is set too tight.

Why owners rate it

Genuine Masterclip part

Made to fit the Ranger, Hunter and HD Roamer exactly, sourced direct from Masterclip rather than a generic aftermarket copy.

Sold as a pair

2 laminated springs — the number needed for a full, matched replacement inside the clipper head.

Holds the blade carriage steady

The springs that let the cutter swing side to side, producing the clean cutting action of the blades.

A consumable part

Expect to replace roughly once a year with regular use — sooner on dense or dirty coats.

Usually a sign of over-tensioning

Most laminated springs break from the clipper being over-tightened rather than general wear alone.

How to fit it

  1. Disconnect the power

Unplug the clipper before you start any work on it.

  2. Remove the blade

Take the blade off the head to expose the laminated springs inside.

  3. Swap the springs

Replace the worn or broken springs with the new pair.

  4. Refit and re-tension carefully

Reattach the blade and set the tension to the correct point rather than cranking it up — see "Getting the tension right" below before you start clipping.

Getting the tension right

Over-tensioning is the most common reason laminated springs break — and it also makes the clipper run hot, which can damage the motor over time. On the Ranger, HD Roamer and other Heiniger-style heads, tighten the tension until you feel the first resistance, then give it just a quarter turn more — don't crank it any further.

As a general rule, run the clipper with the tension set as loose as possible while it's still clipping effectively; it puts less strain on the springs and keeps the clipper running cooler. Not sure if your clipper's tension is set correctly? Message us through eBay — we're happy to talk you through it.
