*Bogohl 3 was stationed at airfields around Ghent in Belgium, under Ernst Brandenburg, & was equipped with G.IV bombers, then in March 1917 with the new Gotha whose power increased over previous models now allowed attacks on London. The attacks, carried out under the code word Turks Cross, began on 25 May, 1917. On this day, 21 Gothas crossed the channel and dropped their bombs across the County of Kent, as there were heavy clouds over London. Another unsuccessful attack took place on June 5. On June 13th, at noon, 14 Gotha reached the British capital and dropped 118 bombs that killed 162 people and injured 426 more.
The last of the 52 attacks of Bogohl 3 over England, partly supported by multi-engined aircraft Giants (R type), took place in the night from 19 to 20 May 1918.
Overall, in these attacks on England, 857 people were killed and over 2000 injured, & 73 tonnes of bombs were dropped.
