This book contains drawings from the Historic American Buildings Survey files in the LIbrary of Congress of 16 train stations. Book 1 includes another 19 stations. Please check the table of contents photo for a listing of the stations. The drawings include floor plans, elevations, and building details. These drawings were performed under the guidance of the Historic American American Buildings Survey program initiated during the Great Depression to record as many of the historical architectural buildings in the USA as possible. This drawing set is extremely accurate. Two of the stations were photocopies of the original station drawings. North Philadelphia and Grand Canyon Depot. These were not part of the HABS program and required extensive cleaning and rework to make them usable.
The book pages contain razor sharp, high resolution black line drawings on natural cream paper. The original large format drawings were scanned with a digital scanner. The original large scale pencil drawings have faded over the years so the scans were weak. Our publishing company developed a unique computer program to restore the line weight and density to make the original drawings look almost as good as the day they were drawn. Next we erased the large number of dirt spots that accumulated over the past 75 years. If that was not enough, we had to resort to drafting missing or damaged lines. Many drawings are beautiful enough to frame as artwork.
