His diary of that rugged experience celebrates an exhilarating journey among a people of prolific creativity. With brush and pen he captures the life and art of the river people. Paintings, drawings and script form an entity which enchants and entrances the reader with its calligraphic expression. About the Artist
Frank Hodgkinson(23 April 1919—20 October 2001) was a noted Australian printmaker, painter and graphic artist. Hodgkinson was educated at Fort Street High School and after leaving began work as a commercial artist and newspaper illustrator. He studied at the Royal Art Society of New South Wales.
At the outbreak of World War II he joined the Army and served in the Middle East, North Africa, New Guinea and Borneo as an official war artist. Following the war he studied and worked in Europe, especially Spain. He won the first Helena Rubinstein Travelling Scholarship in 1958.
Hodgkinson moved back to Australia in 1970 and in 1971 took up residence in the bush north of Melbourne at Dunmoochin on the invitation of Clifton Pugh. Pugh introduced Hodgkinson to oil viscosity printing.
Hodgkinson married Kate Ratten in 1976 then moved to Kenthurst, outside Sydney.
Hodgkinson became a Member of the Order of Australia in 1999 for services to the visual arts. 200pp A physical description follows...

Bound in tan cloth with an embossed front cover and gilt embellishments on the front cover and spine. The binding is tight and solid and all pages are crisp, clear, and bright showing a minimal amount of shelfwear from handling to the edges and corners of the dustjacket which I have placed in a Brodart for safe keeping. Media Mail (once known as 4th class mail) is a special class of postage for books, music, videos and other printed media available within the US and territories. It is far less expensive than Priority Mail, but - it ..... is ........... slooowwwww!!!! Despite USPS claims of 3-9 day delivery times, MEDIA MAIL CAN actually TAKE UP TO 3 WEEKS to arrive, and their tracking info is frequently not updated until it actually arrives, making that feature pretty useless! PLEASE remember this when you leave feedback scores as the choice is yours and not my fault if it takes a long time to get there! If you want it in a week or less, you are going to have to bite the bullet and pay for Priority Mail which will get it there in 2-3 working days, 99% of the time, but it is more expensive. Basically, the choice is yours, but if you choose media mail, please don't write to me in 5 days asking where your package is, because the post office will have it and most of the time, they don't have a clue!
