Archival Inkjet on Matte Finish Fine Art Paper
About the Artwork
The food still lifes of the Dutch Golden Age reflect the thriving material culture of the burgeoning republic. They featured lavish foodstuffs and luxurious tableware produced by Dutch artisans or imported from the far-flung corners of the globe. Centuries of ecclesiastical art having conditioned audiences to seek and expect allegorical meaning, they were often coded with moralizing messages, reminding the spectator of life’s transience and the futility of earthly pursuits. According artist John Baldessari, the half-peeled lemon may have been intended to “serve as a call for moderation, warning that life is not only sweet, but sour as well.”
Fine Art Quality
The Ibis’s giclée process uses archival pigment inks on 100% cotton rag paper to achieve crisp detail and rich, lasting color. Unlike posters, they will not yellow with time, but will maintain their original quality for as long as you own them.
