Certifications - Energy Star, RoHS, ETL Compliant.

ENERGY STAR is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) voluntary program that helps businesses and individuals save money and protect our climate through superior energy efficiency.

RoHS restricts the use of six hazardous materials in manufacturing various types of electronic and electrical equipment. Specifically:  RoHS bans placing on the EU market new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed-upon levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

The ETL Mark demonstrates compliance to the requirements of widely accepted product safety standards, as determined through independent testing and periodic follow-up inspections by an NRTL.  Intertek provides product safety testing and certification services for companies spanning multiple industries, markets, and applications.  The ETL Mark is accepted throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as internationally.  ETL has a long history that began in 1896 when Thomas Alva Edison founded Electrical Testing Labs (ETL).  Edison’s vision was to provide assurance to consumers through product performance and safety testing.

Note  - The following information is printed on the box.

”This product is incompatible with photo-controls, motion sensors or timing devices.  This dimmable lamp may not be compatible with all dimmers for more compatibility information refer to www_lutron_com”.  I haven’t had any problems using these bulbs with rotary or lever wall dimmers.  I noticed that other manufactures also state compatibility concerns with high tech dimmers.  If I find additional information on the subject, I will post it.
