This Telemann Suite for trumpet and basso continuo or just piano is taken from the bi-weekly publication Der getreue Musikmeister (The Faithful Music Master) for the amateur musician that Telemann put out and for which he wrote much of the music.  These pieces were originally written to be played by any solo instrument, and the pieces selected for this four movement suite work particularly well on trumpet.  One piece, Air Trompette, has been recorded by Edward Tarr.  The four movements are:

Napolitana

Naise (A Foolish Dance)

I conceived and have played these on C trumpet with harpsichord and bassoon, but any bass instrument can be used on the bass part, or they can be played with piano alone.

However,  I also have a version for Bb trumpet where the keyboard part is dropped down a step, making the part one step lower, although the notes LOOK the same on the Bb trumpet part as on the C part.

As was the tradition in the Baroque era, repeated sections have been optional embellished.  The embellished version is printed right under the original, so that you can work with the embellishment, see how it is used, and change anything you'd like to for your own personal touch.  You can use my embellishments, use them as a basis for your version, or make up your own embellished version.  I have included two versions of Air Trompette; one as written and one heavily embellished.

The pieces, depending on whether or not you use embellishments and how difficult they are, are of medium easy to advanced difficulty.  Only the Air Trompette reaches a high C.  These are beautiful pieces for recital, working on Baroque style, and learning Baroque embellishment.  Total time of the 4 movements is about 8 minutes.

 The piano part and trumpet part are comb bound.  All music is printed on heavy cover stock, 67 weight (most normal paper is 20.)  I think that you will be pleased with the quality of the publication and of the music.
