ABOUT SLAUGHTER

Formed in Toronto, Canada, in 1984, Slaughter became one of the most important underground bands in the early development of Death Metal and extreme Thrash Metal.

Not to be confused with the American Hard Rock band of the same name, this Canadian trio created an exceptionally aggressive musical style combining relentless Thrash Metal riffs, raw vocals, explosive drumming and the uncompromising energy of Hardcore Punk.

Their music helped establish the foundations of the emerging Death-Thrash movement alongside bands such as Possessed, Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Kreator, Sodom and early Death.

Despite releasing only one full-length studio album during their original career, Slaughter developed a legendary reputation among underground Metal collectors.

STRAPPADO – AN UNDERGROUND CLASSIC

Originally recorded in February 1986 at Futuresound Studios in Toronto and released in 1987, Strappado is widely regarded as an important early example of extreme Death-Thrash Metal.

The album combines short, aggressive compositions with savage vocals, heavily distorted guitars and relentless rhythmic intensity.

"Disintegrator" and "Incinerator" showcase the band's distinctive combination of raw speed and crushing guitar riffs.

"Nocturnal Hell" is among Slaughter's most recognizable compositions, featuring an exceptionally dark and aggressive atmosphere.

"F.O.D. (Fuck of Death)" delivers uncompromising extreme Metal with the band's trademark intensity.

"Parasites," "The Curse" and "Tortured Souls" demonstrate the band's unique mixture of Thrash Metal, Punk aggression and early Death Metal influences.

The title track "Strappado" remains an underground favorite among collectors of classic extreme Metal.

ORIGINAL 1987 MIX AND 1993 CD REMIX

One of the most interesting features of this edition is the inclusion of two different presentations of the original album recordings.

CD 1 begins with the original 1987 LP mix.

Tracks 10–22 present the 1993 CD remix, including additional recordings from the original sessions.

These versions offer collectors an opportunity to compare different mixes and hear how the band's raw sound was presented across the original releases.

RARE LIVE RECORDINGS FROM 1986

CD 1 also features five live performances recorded at the Concert Hall in Toronto on July 4, 1986.

These recordings capture Slaughter's uncompromising stage presence during their original underground period.

An excellent historical document for fans interested in the Canadian extreme Metal scene of the mid-1980s.
