Antique 19c. Chinese Famille Rose Charger Plate Peony Crane Late Qing Guanyao Nei Zao Mark
~ 10.5 inch x 13 inch
~ 13.6 oz (385g)
VERY GOOD ANTIQUE
A Magnificent and rare Chinese Famille Rose / Wucai porcelain charger plate dating to the late Qing Dynasty to early Republic period (circa 1890–1920). This substantial 11-inch dish features exceptional potting and elite artistry, boasting an incredibly lightweight body of just 13.6 oz (385 grams)—a classic hallmark of high-grade, thin imperial-school porcelain from this transitional era.
The interior is exquisitely hand-painted with an auspicious "Yi Pin Fu Gui" (一品富贵) theme, translating to "First Rank of Wealth and Honor." The central composition showcases a vibrant orange peony blossom, a red-headed crane standing beneath stylized clouds and a rising sun/coral disc, and a fruiting pomegranate branch representing abundance. Close-up photos reveal an authentic metallic iridescent "halo" oxidation around the thick enamels, a wonderful testament to its age.
The reverse features a clear, hand-stamped four-character iron-red seal mark reading "官窑内造" (Guanyao Nei Zao), which translates to "Made Inside the Official/Imperial Kiln." This historical mark belongs to pieces produced by imperial kiln masters supplementally crafting high-end pieces for commercial markets during the waning years of the Qing empire. An original painter's mark is also present on the outer rim.
Condition:
MINT / EXCELLENT CONDITION. Absolutely no chips, no cracks, no hairlines, and no repairs. The unglazed foot rim is beautifully clean with minor, natural iron spots and kiln oxidation appropriate for its age. Ring tone is bright and clear. Enamels remain incredibly vibrant with original gilt accents intact.
