A very unusual and curious piece: A human-skull signet-style in white enamel men’s ring with spcial band decorated with Memento mori slogan in black enamel and relief  skeleton in coffin. In my opinion, this may have been a doctor’s or anatomist’s ring, as such motifs were often used as reminders of mortality and the fragility of life.

Beautifully crafted with great attention to detail — truly a masterwork.

Originating from a private collection in Vienna, its exact history is unknown, but it reportedly came from the estate of a world traveler and antiques collector.
