Victorian entire letter dated 8 July 1846, posted locally at Ilminster, Somerset, on 10 July. Franked with a QV 1d red imperforate stamp, four margins, lettered B-F. Blue Ilminster circular date stamps on front and reverse. Printed communication from the Commissioners of Assessed Taxes requesting attendance at the George Inn to sign a Contract of Composition. Additional contemporary pencil notes concerning malt haulage by boat. An interesting example of Victorian taxation and local commercial history.
