Description
Condition : Used - vintage, top yellowed, light 4cm finish crack near pickguard; neck straight, rod room both ways

Yamaha FG-180 "Red Label" dreadnought acoustic, 7-digit serial 1561545 - according to the shop most likely made around 1971 at Yamaha's Hamamatsu factory. Tuning-fork headstock logo.

The FG-180 was one of Japan's first mass-produced acoustic guitars. Mahogany back and sides give a dry, well-balanced voice, now naturally aged with plenty of volume.

Specifications (shop):
Top: Ezo spruce laminate. Back & sides: mahogany. Neck: mahogany. Fingerboard and bridge: rosewood. Scale 636mm. Tuners: TM-15 (replacement).

Condition (shop report):
The whole top has yellowed with age; normal use scratches and small dings in places; an approx. 4cm light finish crack on the top near the pickguard (see photos). No other cracks. Almost no bridge lifting - very clean for a guitar nearly 55 years old. The tuners have been replaced and the old screw holes remain (date unknown; the original tuners are not included).

Playability (shop report):
Truss rod: room in both directions; the neck is currently straight. Frets: light wear on the low frets (plain-string side) was polished out by the shop; on average more than 60% remaining. Set up with .012-.053 phosphor bronze strings; string height at the 12th fret approx. 3.1mm (6th string) / 2.5mm (1st string). Fully cleaned. Neck relief and string height move with climate and humidity; the shop's figures are measurements at the time of listing, not a guarantee of the state on arrival.

Included:
Generic soft case, as listed by the shop (the shop's Japanese 3-month warranty card does not apply outside Japan).

Please review all photographs as they form part of the description. The guitar is carefully packed with the neck supported and shipped from Japan with tracking. International buyers welcome.
