This is a high-quality vintage precision machinist’s measuring instrument from one of America’s most important manufacturers of machine tools and precision measuring equipment.

The frame features engraved fractional-to-decimal conversion tables, including 1/8ths and 32nds, an especially attractive feature on these older Brown & Sharpe instruments.

The micrometer retains a very nice original appearance with crisp engraved markings, knurled adjustment surfaces and bright metal finish.

Estimated date: Early-to-mid 20th century. Exact manufacture date has not been determined.

Condition: Vintage used condition with age-related scratches, discoloration, spotting and general wear. Adjustment mechanism moves, but the micrometer has not been professionally calibrated or checked for measurement accuracy, so it is being sold as a collectible/vintage precision instrument rather than as a certified measuring tool.

The original fitted case is included and clearly marked “Brown & Sharpe Mfg. Co., Providence, R.I., U.S.A.” The case shows substantial age and use, including considerable loss and deterioration to the exterior covering, particularly along the edges and corners. Interior lining shows dust, wear and discoloration. Hardware has oxidation/verdigris consistent with age.
