An extremely attractive cigarette case from the turn of the century.

Piece is constructed from 800 silver with ornament typical of Jugendstil on front and back; interior reveals same design in debossed appearance. Silver stamped "800" German crescent moon & crown with "RLB" maker's mark, attributed to Richard Lebram of Berlin (one of the most significant European jewelry firms in the early 20th century.) Based on markings and design, the piece is approximately dated c. 1900-1910. Exterior has a few minor dents and scratches throughout; interior left panel has some discoloration. Case is otherwise in good fully functional condition given age; opening mechanism still smooth with both original elastics affixed to interior, which is quite uncommon. Piece has not been polished to preserve its original patina, though doing so would certainly give it a more brilliant finish. A beautiful example of Jugendstil design and craftmanship, and a historic piece for any collection or personal use.
