Information: An entertaining--and often profound--selection by Nash of some of his favorite poems from earlier collections. From the dustjacket: "Good Intentions is about you and your wife and your
neighbor's dog; about termites and Samson Agonistes and the weather. It is, in
fact, about anything that ever crawled into Ogden Nash's cranium. It is easy to
tell that Ogden Nash the humorist, the story-teller, the philosopher, the
individualist, the observer of the human heart and master of the incredible is
concerned about the world and the way we mortals go about messing it up. Just
by glancing at a few of the titles (Allergy In A Country Churchyard,
Brakeman, Hand Me My Niblick, Theres Always An Ubblebub, Lather As You Go,
etc. ) you can see how he proposes to straighten everything out.
"Clearly," as the Atlantic Monthly said,
"Ogden Nash is God's gift to the United States; genuine comic talent is nearly
priceless. Mr. Nash is our best literary comedian since Will Rogers. He has
become, in a strictly Shakespearian sense, America's number one fool, though
in any other sense he is nobody's fool." " Jacket design by Maurice Sendak
