Especially if interest to fans of Sunderland AFC and, possibly, England, on offer is the following, very rare and scare, collection of items relating to the centenary of Sunderland AFC:

Match programme for the official centenary game, Sunderland v England XI, played at the old Roker Park on Wednesday 7th November 1979. The programme is in excellent condition, given its age, and is free of any writing.

Match ticket for the centenary game, in near mint condition.

Official Football League First Day Cover, dated 7th November 1979. The match details are included, but what makes this first day cover very rare is that it is No. 12 of only 20 signed by the man selected as the club’s Player of the Century, Charlie Hurley. The envelope and insert are both in near mint condition.

Finally, a card admitting the bearer to the Roker Park Suite, signed on the reverse by numerous figures from Sunderland’s history. Those that I can recognise are, as follows:
Len Shackleton (played for Sunderland 1948-1957),
Brian ‘Pop’ Robson,
Shaun Elliott,
Tim Gilbert,
Barry Dunn,
Trevor Ford (played for Sunderland 1950-1953),
Ron Greenwood (the then England manager),
Billy Death (played for Sunderland 1924-1928),
Ernest England (played for Sunderland 1919-1929) &
five I can’t identify, but aficionados of Sunderland AFC’s glorious history will surely be able to put a name to these signatures.
This invitation, although handled by many people, is in almost mint condition.

All these items are now over 47 years old and the descriptions given about their condition is more than fair.

These items form a very important part of Sunderland AFC’s history, contain signatures of men who played for the club over 100 years ago and is a very rare and scarce collection of memorabilia pertaining to the club’s centenary.
