Vintage original manufacturer's promotional sales leaflet for the Vickers Vanguard, the British four-engined turboprop airliner powered by four Rolls-Royce Tyne propeller-turbine engines. Produced by Vickers-Armstrongs (Aircraft) Limited of Weybridge, Surrey.
Illustrated throughout in detailed black-and-white line artwork, by the artist Sherwood, with a central view of the aircraft on the apron surrounded by vignettes highlighting its selling points: flexible 4, 5 or 6-abreast seating; Tyne engines drawing on Rolls-Royce Dart experience; a fully manual two-crew flight deck; Viscount-type passenger windows; large truck-bed-height freight holds; and a simple low-pressure undercarriage. The title block reads "VICKERS VANGUARD — Four Rolls-Royce Tyne Propeller-Turbine Engines — SALIENT FEATURES." A genuine period piece of aviation ephemera, printed on lightweight paper (single-sided; the reverse is blank). Would frame well as a display piece for an aviation enthusiast, measures approximately 40cm x 33cm. OK condition, with wear, creases, fold lines, will be sent folded.
