This RAF WWII Military Bell featuring a Broad Arrow is a collectable piece from the World War II era,  and belonged to Wing Commander  Olver,
Battle of Britain Spitfire pilot, 611 and 603 squadrons. Wing Commander Peter Olver served with 603 Squadron on the 24th of October and on the following day his Spitfire was shot down but he baled out with only light injuries. When returning to duty he was transferred to 66 Squadron based at Biggin Hill and promoted to Flight Commander. He was posted to North Africa commanding No.238 and No.213 Sqn flying the Hurricane, and destroyed three Italian fighters on the ground. Flying with No.1 Sqn South African Air Force he scored another two kills before being shot down and taken prisoner for the rest of the war. He died on 14h February 2013.

This bell would have been an invaluable warning tool for either the public or British forces personnel for action during the conflict, with the broad arrow design signifying the importance of unity and strength. Complete with a bracket.

It has been painted as can be seen from the photos  was it to make the item less noticeable to enemy planes. Or if this is original or been carried out at a later date.  It weighs approx. 2kg (Bathroom scales)

It has come from a house clearance of a (deceased) former Wing commander the now house owners father served in the WWII and his grandfather WW1

Please see all pics as they do show condition and form the largest part of the description An authentic World War II military bell in blue is most likely a post-war repainted RAF (Royal Air Force) Scramble Bell or an artefact associated with a wartime facility. TAKEN FROM A MILITARY PASSAGE. I HAVE OTHER RAF ARTEFACTS INCLUDING HIS POW KITBAG, BOXES, NAMED
