A substantial bound volume of The Picture Magazine, Volume I, covering January to June 1893. Published by George Newnes Ltd., this is the inaugural volume of the Victorian illustrated magazine, featuring an extensive collection of fine art reproductions, engravings, literature, humour, current affairs and beautifully printed illustrations throughout.

Finished in an attractive quarter-bound red cloth with marbled boards and gilt lettering to the spine, making it both an excellent reference work and a decorative Victorian library piece.

Condition:
Fair antique condition. The binding remains together but the front internal hinge has split with movement loose front endpapers. There is age-related wear, rubbing and fading to the boards and spine, together with bumped corners and edge wear. The pages are complete and remain readable with scattered foxing, age toning and occasional marks throughout. Please note, some of the pages are loose inside the book. A period bookbinder's label for V. F. Filleul, Jersey, is present to the inside cover. Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
