Vintage 1970s German Ice Glass Ashtray – Heavy Textured Mid Century Art Glass

Condition
Very good vintage condition overall. There are two extremely small chips / flea bites to the inner rim, each approximately 2 mm, visible in the close-up photographs. Otherwise the piece presents exceptionally well.

A striking and substantial vintage German ice-glass ashtray, dating to approximately the 1970s.This is an exceptionally decorative piece of heavy moulded art glass with a dramatic fractured / crystalline texture throughout. The sculptural square form surrounds a deep circular bowl with four cigarette rests, while the heavily textured glass catches and refracts the light in beautiful turquoise, green, silver and smoky tones.

The underside has a thick textured brown backing/coating with a mustard-coloured velvet square to the base.

A superb piece of Mid Century Modern design that works equally well today as a decorative bowl, vide poche, desk accessory, jewellery dish or statement object.
