A beautiful antique French Louis XV style fauteuil / open armchair, with an elegant shaped frame and particularly attractive floral needlepoint upholstery.
The chair has the classic flowing form associated with French Louis XV furniture, with a shaped upholstered back, open scroll arms and elegant cabriole legs. The timber has developed a lovely warm colour and naturally aged patina.
The upholstery is a real feature of the chair. A neutral ground is decorated with colourful floral needlepoint panels to the centre of the back and seat, with further matching needlework panels to the padded armrests. The detailed roses and smaller flowers are framed by scrolling decorative motifs, creating a very pretty traditional appearance.
The generous proportions and upholstered seat and back make this an attractive occasional armchair for a bedroom, dressing room, living room or traditional interior.
