Complete seven-volume set of Edward Hyde, Earl of Clarendon’s The History of the Rebellion and Civil Wars in England, together with An Historical View of the Affairs of Ireland.

Published by Oxford University Press in 1849, this edition was carefully printed from the original manuscript preserved in the Bodleian Library and includes the notes of Bishop Warburton.

All seven volumes are present, in their original dark cloth bindings with surviving printed paper spine labels.

A substantial and attractive mid-19th-century historical set, particularly appealing to collectors of English Civil War history, Oxford publications and antiquarian books.

Condition is commensurate with age. The bindings show wear, particularly to the tops and bottoms of the spines, with some fraying and losses to the cloth. The original spine labels are worn and marked. There is some spotting/foxing internally, including to the title pages, but the books remain a complete matching set and present very well for their age.
