Beautiful, factory-matched pair of vintage handheld vanity mirrors dating from the 1930s to 1940s. Likely produced by the British Xylonite Company (Halex), both pieces feature the identical elegant oval shape and are explicitly stamped "Made in England" right into the plastic below the glass rim.
Due to minor variations in early plastic factory batches, the cream/ivory mirror is slightly larger than the tortoiseshell mirror. Together, they create a stunning dark-and-light contrast that looks wonderful on a vanity or dressing table display.
Condition:
- Dark Faux Tortoiseshell Mirror: Features a deep, rich marbled finish. The bevelled glass remains clear and fully functional for daily use, showing only light surface scuffs consistent with age.
- Grained Cream / French Ivory Mirror: Features a beautiful, fine parallel line grain mimicking genuine ivory. The bevelled mirror glass is clear, fully reflective, and in excellent vintage condition. Some light age spotting.
Both frames and handles are structurally sound and sturdy.
Measurements in cm are noted in the pictures.
