A fine Victorian commemorative medal issued in 1895 to mark the opening of the railway connection between Pretoria and Delagoa Bay, now Maputo in Mozambique.
The completion of the route provided an important rail connection from the Transvaal to the Indian Ocean and makes this an interesting piece of late 19th-century South African and railway history.
Overall very good condition with only minor age-related touch marks. The design remains crisp with strong surviving detail and presents very well.
Please examine all photographs carefully as these form an important part of the description and provide the best indication of condition.
