HUNTLEY & PALMERS
Indian Elephant Casket Biscuit Tin
Circa 1924–1932 · Embossed Tinplate · Made in England

An ornate Huntley & Palmers biscuit tin, cleverly fashioned to resemble a carved Indian sandalwood casket. The decoration is embossed and printed onto metal, creating the appearance of carved panels surrounded by intricate inlaid borders.

Elephants, monkeys and scrolling foliage decorate the exterior, complemented by geometric bands and floral roundels. The stepped, sloping lid has a raised rectangular centre panel, rear hinges and a small front catch.
