The details below are the review given at the time of launch and not the opinions of the sellerA superb example of the 2021 Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5.5, presented in exceptional used condition and supplied with a Scotty Cameron Matador grip and matching Phantom headcover.
Inspired by the tour setup associated with Justin Thomas, the Phantom X 5.5 combines the flowing feel and toe rotation of a blade-style putter with the additional stability and forgiveness of a compact mallet.
The distinctive small slant—or “jet”—neck promotes controlled toe flow, making the 5.5 particularly suitable for golfers who naturally use a slight-to-moderate arc in their putting stroke.
This right-handed putter measures 34 inches and carries the correct twin 15g stainless-steel sole weights for that factory length.
The 2021 Phantom X 5.5 was developed in response to golfers wanting a compact mallet resembling the tour configuration used by Justin Thomas.
Its small slant neck encourages more natural face rotation than the nearly face-balanced Phantom X 5. This gives the 5.5 a more flowing, blade-like release while retaining the visual confidence and stability of a mallet.
The compact profile should particularly appeal to golfers who want mallet performance without an excessively large head behind the ball.
The face and main body are precision milled from solid 303 stainless steel.
This construction was designed to deliver:
Unlike models that rely on a separate face insert, the Phantom X 5.5 uses a solid stainless-steel face carried through into the body.
A black-anodised 6061 aircraft-grade aluminium sole and flange component is integrated with the heavier stainless-steel body.
Using lighter aluminium in the centre allows more mass to be positioned around the perimeter of the head. This helps increase stability and resistance to twisting while maintaining the compact proportions of the putter.
The result is a useful combination of:
The defining feature of the Phantom X 5.5 is its small slant or jet neck.
Where the standard Phantom X 5 is designed to minimise face rotation, the 5.5 provides additional toe flow and a more natural release for golfers with an arcing stroke.
It is therefore particularly suitable for players who:
A milled black sight line runs along the topline, creating a clear alignment reference without overwhelming the compact shape.
The swept-back wings frame the ball, while the contrasting stainless-steel and black aluminium construction helps define the putter’s shape at address.
The putter has two customisable stainless-steel sole weights positioned in the heel and toe.
This 34-inch example carries two 15g weights, which is the manufacturer’s specified weighting for this length. The heel-and-toe positioning contributes to stability and helps the putter maintain its intended balance through impact.
This putter is fitted with a Scotty Cameron Matador grip.
The Matador has a comfortable, substantial profile that helps reduce excessive hand action while retaining sufficient feedback and control. Its larger shape complements the stability-focused Phantom X head particularly well.
Please note that the archived standard specification for the 2021 model lists a Pistolero Plus grip; the Matador grip fitted to this particular putter is clearly disclosed and photographed.

Scotty Cameron and Titleist
The manufacturer describes the 5.5 as offering a flowing, blade-like feel with the stability benefits of a mallet. Its small slant neck was specifically designed to create additional toe flow, while the stainless-steel and aluminium construction moves weight towards the perimeter for improved stability and forgiveness.
