How good is this particular CD?

It's a very desirable early CD-era Australian edition, particularly because it's a straightforward presentation of the original album rather than one of the later remastered editions with bonus material. The album itself is arguably Elton John's definitive 1970s record—a huge, ambitious double album that moves from the dramatic instrumental opening of “Funeral for a Friend” through classics such as “Candle in the Wind,” “Bennie and the Jets,” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” and “Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting.”

Elton's official site describes it as his most popular and successful studio album, noting that it spent more than 100 weeks on the US and UK charts and reached No. 1 in Australia, the UK and Canada.

For a CD collection: I'd rate this Australian Disctronics version highly as an early Australian CD pressing, especially if the discs and booklet are in excellent condition. It is also worth keeping separate from the later Mercury 528 159-2 Australian CD, which is a different, later edition.
