This is a striking example of the highly regarded 2013 Scotty Cameron Select Newport 2, enhanced with a bespoke custom finish created by Nathan Pugh of PutterRefurb UK.
Nathan transformed the original 303 stainless-steel head with a dark finish, contrasting silver face and carefully applied Tiffany-blue and white detailing. The result respects the classic Newport 2 shape while giving this particular putter an entirely individual appearance.
This is an authentic Scotty Cameron putter with a specialist aftermarket custom finish. It is not being presented as a Scotty Cameron Custom Shop finish.
The putter measures 35 inches and retains the corresponding Scotty Cameron shaft label, which identifies the original specifications as 35-inch length, 4° loft and 71° lie.
This putter was individually finished by Nathan Pugh of PutterRefurb UK, a North Wales-based putter specialist whose custom work is completed by hand in his own workshop.
The bespoke treatment includes:
The colour combination gives the putter a distinctive appearance without obscuring the original Scotty Cameron engravings or design features.
Because the work was undertaken independently, this should not be confused with or described as a Scotty Cameron Custom Shop finish.
The Newport 2 is Scotty Cameron’s squared-off interpretation of the traditional heel-and-toe-weighted blade putter.
Its features include:
The design is particularly suited to golfers who prefer a traditional blade and have a naturally arcing putting stroke.
The putter head is milled from 303 stainless steel, a material widely used in premium putter manufacturing because of its combination of durability, feel and machining quality.
Rather than being cast into shape, the head is precisely milled to create consistent surfaces, sharp lines and accurate dimensions.
The custom finish has retained the putter’s original engravings, shaping and face-milling pattern.
One of the defining characteristics of this Select generation is its particularly deep face milling.
The pronounced milling reduces the amount of metal contacting the ball at impact, contributing to a softer sensation and quieter sound than a shallow-milled stainless-steel face.
It also gives this generation of Newport 2 an immediately recognisable appearance.
The face has been finished in contrasting silver, creating a clear visual distinction from the darker body.
The traditional plumber’s neck creates approximately one shaft of offset and a moderate degree of toe flow.
This configuration generally suits golfers whose putter opens and closes naturally during the stroke rather than travelling completely straight back and through.
The neck design also positions the shaft and hands ahead of the face at address, creating the familiar Newport 2 appearance.
The sole contains two removable 10g weights, which are appropriate to the original 35-inch configuration.
Positioning weight towards the heel and toe increases stability compared with an unweighted traditional blade while retaining the feedback and release characteristics for which the Newport family is known.
The weights have received matching Tiffany-blue centre detailing as part of Nathan Pugh’s custom design.
The Scotty Cameron shaft label remains present and records:
These measurements correspond with Scotty Cameron’s published specifications for this generation of Select Newport 2.
The putter has now been physically measured and confirmed at 35 inches.
Plugged In Golf
Plugged In Golf identified the exceptionally deep face milling as one of this Select Newport 2’s most distinctive features.
Its review described the appearance as exceptionally clean, with the squared Newport 2 profile and deep milling providing the principal visual characteristics.
The reviewer found the deep-milled face produced a soft sensation, although golfers who prefer firmer feedback may favour a shallower milling pattern.
Orlando Golf Blogger
Contemporary testing praised the Newport 2’s combination of precision engineering and classic appearance.
The review highlighted the importance of confidence at address and concluded that the Scotty Cameron combined advanced putter design with particularly strong aesthetics.
Long-term owner feedback
This Black Mist generation continues to attract interest because it combines a traditional stainless-steel Newport 2 head with unusually deep face milling and adjustable sole weights.
Its popularity also makes it a strong basis for high-quality individual finishes such as the treatment applied to this example.
This putter is presented in superb used condition.
As a used, individually finished putter, very minor cosmetic imperfections may be visible under close inspection.
