This one is scarce for a reason a lot of buyers miss. It is a second printing incentive, which is a smaller pool than a first print incentive to begin with, because second printings only get ordered by shops that already sold out. On top of that it is a 1:25, so a store had to order twenty five copies of that reprint to earn one, and it is a virgin cover with no logo or trade dress on the art at all. Panosian's image is the kind of thing that sells itself hanging on a wall. Frank Castle planted dead center, skull on his chest, rifle held across him, jaw set, and Daredevil perched above and behind him on a rooftop ledge in that coiled crouch, both of them lit from behind by an enormous burning yellow moon over a black city skyline. Two silhouettes, one light source, zero wasted space. It displays beautifully.
The setup is the oldest good idea in Hell's Kitchen. Daredevil and the Punisher, one of the most storied rivalries in comics, aimed at each other and at New York's criminal element at the same time. Frank goes after the Gnucci crime family for the most violent confrontation he has had with them yet, and as that tears through Hell's Kitchen it falls to Matt Murdock to contain the damage. Jimmy Palmiotti writes the main story and he is going back to a version of the Punisher he helped define, so this is not a writer visiting the character, it is a writer coming home to him, with Philip Tan on art bringing the heavy shadow work these two demand. There is also a Mini Marvels: The Dare backup by Chris Giarrusso, which is a genuinely funny palate cleanser after the main story. A great pick for anyone who came to Daredevil through the show and wants the harder edged corner of that world.
