There was a time when electronic football was absolutely magical. Before PlayStation, Xbox, Madden and photorealistic graphics, companies were trying to put the excitement of Sunday afternoon football into an electronic game you could actually play at home. Tudor Games went all-in with the NFL Deluxe Electronic Football, officially licensed by the NFL and loaded with features that were incredibly ambitious for its era—running, passing, kicking, scoring, downs, quarters, yardage, clock, multiple skill levels and electronic referee sounds. For a kid opening this box decades ago, this wasn't just another toy—it was NFL football brought to life with glowing red LEDs.
Now look at this survivor. BRAND NEW IN THE BOX—and it WORKS! This is easily the best-playing example out of the batch I have had. I installed batteries, powered it up, and gameplay is excellent. The LEDs light properly and the game plays beautifully. Finding one of these today is difficult. Finding one complete is harder. Finding one that actually still operates correctly after all these decades is another story entirely. Finding one essentially unused in its original box that plays this well is just crazy.
The game itself is gorgeous and appears to have remained protected in its original packaging, including the original Styrofoam packing and Official Rules booklet. Even the large display flap on the box has never been folded over, something you almost never see after this many years. The battery compartment is exceptionally clean. Please study the photographs carefully—the outer box does have age/storage wear, staining, scuffing and other flaws as shown. I would much rather have an imperfect original box protecting an incredible unused game than a pretty box hiding a worn-out example.
I believe in describing every item openly and accurately to the best of my ability..I do not intentionally hide flaws or problems. With the nature of these old games they will almost always have some little issue...buttons don't press perfect, screens faded, small scuffs or wear from play.... battery covers don't stay on perfect.
