SUPPLEMENT TO THE EDINBURGH GAZETTE, JANUARY 6, 1919

Married in 1922 and then emigrated to Canada

Like many early commercial and mail contract aviators, Wifred Buchanan served as a pilot during the First World War  before turning his skills to civilian commercial aviation

On December 10, 1928, Buchanan lifted off from Winnipeg in a Fokker Super Universal monoplane at 9:10 a.m., carrying the first official air mail bags bound for Regina to inaugurate prairie mail delivery

He flew extensively across Western and Northern Canada during aviation's formative bush-flying era, working alongside other legendary pilots like Punch Dickins

Wifred Buchanan died in 1974
