Original U.S. M1 helmet set consisting of a rear-seam swivel-bale steel shell, M1 ground troops liner, and olive drab cloth helmet cover. The liner is contract marked DSA 100-73-C-0582, dating it to the early 1970s/Vietnam-era period. The removable sweatband is a later replacement marked DLA 100-83-C-4378, Steinberg Bros. Inc. The steel shell has no visible heat-lot or manufacturer marking that I could locate. Interior is hand marked “J. Gorman” and has a large hand-drawn peace symbol. Exterior has a chalk “R.” The OD cloth cover has foliage/buttonhole slits and various hand-applied markings. Shows expected age and service wear including scratches, finish loss, staining and wear to the cover and suspension components. Please examine photos carefully for condition and markings. An interesting original M1 helmet assembly with particularly nice period-style personalization. Sold exactly as shown.
