This historic Grand Solo Violin was imported by the Wurlitzer company between 1880-1900. These instruments are noted amongst modern-day collectors for their fine craftsmanship and high-quality raw materials. Historically speaking, this instrument must have been carved between the years of 1891-1914, as evident by the 1915 repair label. After 1891, all imports to the USA were required to have the country of origin stamped, or noted on the label. This violin has both. The scroll is stamped with a crest on the back reading “Grand Solo Violin Guarnerius,” - it also has a stamp on the back button faintly reading “Germany.” Similar instruments of this quality, preservation, and age range retail between $2,000-3,000 and these violins only appreciate value with time.

Artistically speaking, the aged woods are beautifully flamed high quality spruce and maple. It’s a successful interpretation of the revered Guarneri violins, and it has been outfitted with new, supreme rosewood fittings that are striking to the eye. It is offered in solid, fully restored condition. Musically speaking, this instrument offers a lot of tonal nuance, great projection, easy playability, and a lovely dark lower register.
