Fantastic vintage RUMPF sculptural ceramic dragon mug / vessel, signed and dated 1978.

This highly detailed art pottery piece is formed as a wonderfully expressive dragon, with its long curled tail creating the handle. The body is covered in modeled scales and ridges, while the dramatic open-mouthed dragon head projects from the front.

One of the most unusual details is inside the vessel, where sculpted feet/claws extend into the interior.

The pottery has earthy tan, rust and brown coloring accented by a blue-green glazed rim and interior.

Signed RUMPF and dated 1978 on the underside, along with an incised decorative motif.
