Beautiful pair of antique black cotton women’s stockings, dating approximately to the 1910s to early 1920s.

Made from cotton, these long stockings feature an elaborate openwork lace-knit pattern throughout the legs, creating a striking geometric and floral effect. The feet, toes and heels are more densely knitted for durability, while the upper portion continues the decorative openwork design.

One stocking retains a faint circular manufacturer’s trademark or logo on the foot, along with another faded marking near the ankle. I have not positively identified the maker.

This type of decorative hosiery is particularly evocative of the late Edwardian and early flapper period, when rising hemlines brought increasingly elaborate stockings into view.

Condition:

Very good antique condition for their age. There is expected light wear and some surface lint/fibers from storage. The intricate openwork appears remarkably well preserved in the photographs. As with all antique hosiery, the cotton should be considered delicate and handled with care. Please review all photographs for condition.
