Moroso Oil Accumulator Kit for Maserati 4.2 – Variator Pre-Oiling Setup

For sale is a complete Moroso oil accumulator kit previously fitted to a Maserati 4.2 V8 as an interim measure to help prevent dry start-up and reduce the risk of cam variator chatter.

The system pre-oils the engine before start-up, helping to ensure oil pressure is available to the lubrication system, including the cam variators, before the engine is cranked.

The kit includes:

• Moroso oil accumulator
• Maserati fitting kit
• Oil pipe/hose
• Required fittings
• Electric valve
• Electronic controller
• Wiring associated with the system

The electronic controller opens the valve before start-up, allowing pressurised oil from the accumulator into the engine, then switches the system off automatically after approximately 10 seconds.

This type of setup is particularly useful on Maserati 4.2 engines where oil drain-back can contribute to start-up variator chatter after the car has been standing.

Please note that this is best regarded as a preventative/interim measure rather than a permanent repair for worn or faulty variators or cam-cap oil-drain issues.

The system was fitted to my own Maserati and is now available because I have since had the permanent cam-cap/variator work carried out.
