• The first hand-blended fountain pen ink from Boston Lore Studio.

    Boston Lore began with an affection for books, handwriting, old objects, and the traces people leave behind on paper. 01 Boston Lore was blended as an ink for that world: a deep, atmospheric color with the character of something drawn from an archive rather than a laboratory shelf. 

    Each small batch is blended by hand at Boston Lore Studio and filled into our 5 mL Archive Bottle — a clear Type I borosilicate glass vial with a lined screw cap. The bottle is individually labeled and presented in a glassine envelope.

    The number 01 marks the beginning of the Boston Lore ink archive. Future Boston Lore blends will continue the sequence.

    Ink Characteristics

    A deeply saturated burgundy-brown with a blackened wine character, shifting from muted red-brown in lighter strokes toward near-black in heavier areas. Moderate shading reveals the warmer undertone without making the ink appear bright.

    Note: Because 01 Boston Lore is blended by hand in small batches, slight variations in color may occur from one batch to another. Color appearance may also vary depending on paper, pen, nib, ink flow, and lighting.

    Our swatches are made from the actual ink onå Tomoe River 68 gsm paper and photographed under natural light. Color, shading, and sheen may vary with lighting conditions, time of day, paper, ink concentration, and screen settings. The photograph is intended as a reference rather than an exact color reproduction.
