The EMD FT is the locomotive that dieselized America. Built from 1939 to 1945, it was the first commercially successful diesel road freight unit and gave the world EMD's bulldog nose. Each unit had a 1,350 hp 567 prime mover; 555 A units and 541 B units were built, most working as semi-permanently coupled 2,700 hp A+B sets, many into the 1960s.
Important: Road Number Accuracy (Rolling Stock)
Road Numbers for Rolling Stock: Always go by the listing title for the road number. Do not go by the picture. When a manufacturer makes a model with multiple road numbers, they often use the same stock photo for all part numbers/road numbers.
Please do not purchase based on the picture only. Please read the title, item specifics, and description. Manufacturer photos may sometimes include items not included .
