Here is a rare pair of Prairie Indian moccasins~ Oklahoma Otoe Indians are a small tribe that have had this state as their state of origin~They were there long before other tribal members were sent there by the U.S. government~ the mocs consist of finely tanned deer hide with floral style bead work.~ All sinew sewn~ all designs are outlined by 2 rows of clear beads~ The big surprise is that the soles are cut from an old parfleshe storage case~they are tens long by 4 inches high at the heels~ The soles show very little wear~C. 1875 to 1900 ~ A pair of Otoe mocassins out of the Jim Ritchie collection, were in the 2016 Cowan Auction in Ohio with an estimate of $ 5 to 7000~ my last photo is of a pair from the Diker Collection book, First American Art, C 2004.
