Long story short, I was gifted a chest of vintage Barbie dolls and outfits. Some of the components of the ensembles were lost, some pieces fell victim to rough play and/or the ravages of time. Everything needed freshening up and there were some blanks to fill in in most cases. In the process of sorting them, I marveled at the amazing quality of that first decade of Barbie fashions. I wanted to “do them proud” and make them complete ensembles again, so I did.

This is probably my favorite Barbie dress of all time, and I have a lot of favorites. The color, the draping, the subtle accents…what’s not to love? And if the dress didn’t blow you away, the lined, white rabbit-fur stole, which would be faux-fur today, long white gloves, beglittered crystal-look mules, triple beaded choker necklace and coordinating earrings did the trick. Unfortunately, the fur, the gloves and the earrings didn’t survive long enough for me to inherit them. And note that there are spots on one part of the skirt. I think they would wash out, but I didn't try. I substituted the rabbit fur with a pink faux-fur wrap instead of fur and gloves, and made new earrings. I also added a purse and a cellphone and wrapped her ponytail in pink roses. I named this enhanced ensemble "Never Too Much Pink."

The doll is included. I bought her years ago to use as a model because of that gorgeous face and amazing hair. She has a Twist ‘n Turn waist and bendable knees for posing. I am not her first owner, but I have been her most protective owner. I decided to use her because this dress needed a special doll.

Everything comes from a non-smoking, Barbie-loving home where déjà vu is a real thing.
