On offer is a lovely example of an art deco red Bakelite office desk pen tidy and inkwell. I would think this is dates from the 1930s/40s, but I can't be sure. There is no makers name on this, but on the base is a stylised "JSP" logo . Hopefully the Bakelite collectors among you will know which maker this represents. Please take a good look at the pictures as they form part of the item description.

The item measures about 9.5cm x 9cm x 4.5cm. It features a central inkwell with a pen rest either side. There is a small recessed area to the front that could hold paperclips, or perhaps pen nibs. The top of the inkwell can be removed for filling, and cleaning. On the base of the item it is marked "Made in England JSP Regd No 780466".

There are some signs of wear and tear commensurate with age and use. The actual inkwell and the removable top are discoloured from ink. There is also a little ink staining in the recessed base. You may be able to clean it up a bit - I haven't tried. There is also a very tiny chip to the underside edge but it hardly notices at all.

Despite the minor cosmetic faults this is a lovely vintage desktop item. It displays well, and will make a delightful addition to any collection.
