Up for sale is an exceptionally rare antique albumen photograph by the historical Richmond, Virginia photographer Huestis Pratt Cook (1868-1951). The son of the Civil War photographer George Cook (1819-1902), Huestis is best known for his portraits of black Americans and notable locations around Richmond which the collection I am currently selling so finely exhibits. Mounted to board measuring 11 x 14 inches these albumen photographs are of superb quality showing fine detail and composition.

This is the only image from the collection not created for the New York publisher Paul C. Koeber Co. which were sublet to be reproduced as post cards. There is also not a Huestis Cook paper label verso but does bear the emboss stamp low left. This albumen photograph measures 7.5 x 9.75 inches and depicts a busy downtown Richmond corner with many business and figures. The condition shows loss, chipping and wear to its mount while the photograph shows blemishes, discoloration and some hand coloring on particular images to widen the image. You can view the additional photographs by Cook in my current listings.
