Southwest Native American-inspired necklace, with irregular tab-type flat blue-green turquoise stones, contained on two strands of 4 mm brown heishi. The turquoise stones, which were sourced from a Native American origin, range in size from about 10-12 mm at the neck to about 20-30 mm at the bottom center near the joclas. The turquoise resembles the antique stones seen in some authentic, older vintage Pueblo and Navajo necklaces. Such necklaces have been featured in well-known southwest themed magazines and reference books over the years.
The necklace length all around is about 34 inches. The neck area is “squaw wrapped” with cotton string as was often done in older times. There is a set of Joclas tied on with a leather strip at the bottom center of the necklace in the traditional fashion. The Joclas have 4 mm heishi of various light blue colors with small nodular mother of pearl corn beads at bottom center and red accent beads at the top end. The Joclas are made as in older times so that each half of the set can be separated and worn as an earring.
This necklace is a nice recently made replica of the older necklaces seen in museums and old vintage collections. It has stones sourced from a Native American origin. It has a classic, attention getting appearance that will be appreciated by anyone who knows the old pawn Pueblo and Navajo style.
Note that this necklace is of Southwest Native American-inspiration and general styling only. It is not Native American made. It does have turquoise stones sourced from a Native American origin. It was designed and carefully assembled by hand in the U.S.A.
